Mario Likes Shrooms

"short and to the point!"

date: July 13, 2008

Because of the small file size I didn't expect it to be very long. The only complaint I have is the size of the sprites to begin with. A bit small for my tastes. {makes it hard for an old man to see :P Other than that it was a great punch line. :))
I recommended this for a couple collections. Mario and Parodies. I hope it makes it in them soon. :))

Cheers mate!

Author's Response:

I didn't size up the sprites and used a standard size window with them, which is like you say, a little exaggerated =P Also, thanks a lot for recommending this to collections!

Cheers!

Happy 18th Bahamut!

"a splendid birthday salute!"

date: July 12, 2008

I really didn't know you did flash Casualty!?
I think the flash did everything it was supposed to do. Salute Bahamut and make me laugh. I was highly entertained. :))

Take care dude!

Author's Response:

Well, I haven't done a lot of flash recently, but back in the time I even made a pretty popular Mario game, hahaha!

Great to hear from you Ivan, take care!

How long will I last?

"pretty good intro"

date: February 4, 2007

I like this ideal of a weekly flash. I would like to see what kind of story lines you work into it. The possibilities are endless. Of course it is as you say, you must work on them so we'll see. Of course you could always make more than one in a week when you are really in a flash mood and save them for later weeks when the energy is low.
I am glad you are keeping the little dragon sprite and the sounds as your name spells across the screen. Good trademarks. I like those. Personally I like speakonia and its funny every time I hear it. Sometimes it comes out garbled when you import it to flash I have noticed but I think you did a good job on this particular flash.
Well, nothing blew up or exploded so I am disappointed there. Really I am. Its fun when things go boom.
I see the satan character made a return to your flashes. I still haven't figured out what to think of him.
Well, overall, I don't have anything to add here. So I will stop before it gets to a point of rambling. I will be looking for these weekly flash. I hope I see more.
good day mate :)

Author's Response:

I thought speakonia would be funny in this flash and I think I'm right. :) You disappointed because of no explosions? Damn, I've not planned any explosions for episodes 2 and 3. D: Watch out for #2 to be out next Saturday. Thanks for reviewing. :D

Dreaming of her

"excellent!"

submission: Dreaming of her
date: June 12, 2005

I found this by watching a new flash called "yes, yes anime" and you were listed in the credits and I must admit, I liked the music in the flash so I figured I would check it out.
The intro is escellent, beautiful in fact. The song seems to change its mood near the end giving it great diversity. A diverse feeling not found in classical music usually. And trust me, different is good. Original is good. :)
You did a good job at the quality of the sound and kept the file size reasonable at the same time.
For an improve as you say, I really think the effort is splindid. I am touched by this.
I have no real suggestions for you except keep playing, play what comes from the heart, and soul never give up on your dreams.
Thanks for sharing this. :) :) :) :) :)

Author's Response:

Hey, i am very pleased with your opinion, exept from the point, where you criticise missing diversity in classical music.
If you refer to the music at newgrounds, ok... but REAL classical music shows a diversity i NEVER found in another musical stilistic.
But of course thank you very much for you rewiew.

GuitarSolo in A (with new amp)

"thats what I'm talkin' bout!"

date: April 24, 2005

I sorely miss the old days {70's&80's} where lead guitars really screamed and the solos were materpieces of guitar phrases put together with style and effort. Just like this peice.
Today's leads sound like a bunch of random notes chunked in song somewhere without meaning.
Your effort here has some diversity in it and still sticks to its full gun rock and roll style.
The new amp sounds great and I really like the sound your getting from it. Are you still using the epiphone guitar? The combo together is sounding fantastic.
Even tho this has a nostalgic feel to it from the big 80's it really is original. Trust me when I say, I remember all the major licks from that era and your phrases and notes sound refreshing and new. Keep at the originality. Different is good.
Again, for what you call a 'ghetto studio' the sound is good. Everything is well mixed. Good job on quality of the recording.
Hell, everything is great here in my book.
Good luck and keep on rocking.

Author's Response:

thanks so much! i'm glad you like it. this is really helping me move forward with everything. the 80's are where i derive almost all my influence. with my new amp, it does give it a different sound, but since i'm using a GNX3, it's going to sound just about the same as before, but bigger, and now i can turn up the volume and not get insane feedback and such. and yes, i'm still using my Epiphone Les Paul. as of now, it's still my only electric guitar. it's definately great, but i'm still yearning for a new one. lately, i've been thinking very hard on building my own out of an original desing. i make scetches all the time, like during History class. haha. anyway yeah, my "ghetto reocrding studio" is basically the small computer room with my amp, GNX3, guitar, and computer with some little foam thingies to keep the sound in. it's been alright, but i know there's still lots of room to improve on the sound. anyway, thanks a lot for the review, and i'm really glad you like it. i'll be continuing to get more in soon.

Song Idea 1

"your rock man"

submission: Song Idea 1
date: April 17, 2005

The guitar work is really good here. It sounds like you're using a metal pick for the lead solos. Am I right?
In the intro of the solo the first phrase was kinda repetitive and lasted a bit long but the solo was outstanding after that.
The quality was a bit off but still pretty good. Its really hard to get that good "groove tube" sound from a computer yanno? I think you did good on the quality level personally.
I really don't have any suggestions except for keep playing away. Try adding in more and more licks to your solos. And keep rocking man. Jeez I love that sound.

Author's Response:

Thanks. for just about everything i do, i use a Dunlop 2mm Gator Grip Pick cause i've broken all my smaller ones. yes, the beggining of the solo is repetitive, and that's why i did a fade in. i wrote the rythm riffs a while before, but the entire solo was done that day (well technically the 2nd day since my first rec of this one was pretty bad). for the quality, i get the best i can, which isn't great, but it's alright. if you were to put it on, say your ipod (like i did) it doesn't sound very good. i just use this vocal mic i got from Radio Shack (before, it was a computer mic). be on the look out for new recordings (with my new 200w amp!). and incase you haven't already checked it out, my very first 2 uploads are pretty crappy, so spare me the embarasment... anyway, thanks a lot for the review.
